The elegance, grandeur, and serenity of earlier Greek and Roman architecture are unparalleled even today. The timelessness that the scale and material palettes produce, not to forget the intricately carved cornices and arches standing in harmony with the organized gardens and meadows. A contemporary approach that is influenced by this style, commended by the client, gave way to this magnificent creation. Laid down on a sloping site, the driveway leads to a splendid view of the scale and order created by the collonades serenading the user to transition into a previous timeline. The towering columns create a portico that has utmost functional usage even in Kerala’s tropical climate, to deal with climate. The landscape almost embraces the rigidity of the structure and blends it into a subtle composition of white and green. Just like M V Rohe said, “god is in the details”, the intricate work on cornices can be noticed even at first glance and would gain apreciation even from an onlooker, to the sheer craftmanship portrayed. The spaces are blended with the landscape to behave as a single unit with distinguished properties.
